Car Seat Blanket Class

Have you seen those perfectly-fitting car seat canopies where the elastic tucks in the back? They're wonderful and so very useful. We are lucky to carry the original pattern for these canopies in our store, and we have one of the designers, Kristi, coming to teach us a class! (Secretly, she works at our shop, too.) She will share tips on using directional fabric, minky, and share other helpful information.

Come take the class and make a car seat blanket for someone you love. Come on. We know you know someone who is having a baby. A sister, neighbor, cousin, or friend. Come learn from the source and enjoy an evening!

September 27th 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
Cost: $15 (includes pattern and class)
UPDATE!! Class has been cancelled. Check back in a few months for another repeat. Sorry for the inconvenience.

You can even applique anything you'd like on the canopy before sewing it together.
Kristi did this one for her cousin in Kauai, Hawaii. Surfs up!

Block of the Month Starts in August!

We love doing Block of the Month quilts and Marti has a superb one for us starting August 29th! Block of the Month quilts are so much fun. If you haven't been part of a class, now is your time. You do NOT need to be an expert quilter. Come do one block per month and learn from the experts how to do applique quilts one block at a time. If quilts seem to overwhelm you, this is a perfect option. Slow as you go with an instructor there to help you!

The nitty gritty details are as follows:

Who: YOU (and some of your fabulous friends and classmates)!
What: Block of the Month applique quilt class
When: The last Wednesday of each month, starting August 29th at 6:00 p.m.
Where: The Quilting Cottage

The Ghastly Family Album

What's better than sitting around the dinner table with your family? The Ghastly family sitting around their dinner table glaring at you as though you have just insulted every one of them. Ha!

With this kit, we have taken the large panel in gray and cut out scenes in blocks and rectangles, and bordered them with coordinating prints from the line. Come buy this kit before they're gone!

The Ghastlies in Green

The more we look at this fabric, the more projects we think of doing with it. The Ghastly Family is just too fun for Halloween.

We have two quilt kits from the Ghastlies line. The first one is from the large panel with an evil green background. The foreground is the Ghastly family living life in style. In their car, walking the baby in the carriage, and snarling at you all the while.

You MUST come partake of this fun kit!

Etchings Ziggy-Zaggy

Another quilt kit, this one using 3 Sisters "Etchings" fabric line.  So many lovely pieces in this line, we found a way to include all of them!  And the pattern is easier than you think.  Come in and check it out.

Delightful Flags Quilt Kit

One of the things The Quilting Cottage does best is put together a quilt kit.  We have quilts hanging in the store and most of them have that sweet message pinned to them: "Kit Available."  That means you don't have to try to find fabrics that look good together.  You don't have to worry about having enough of one of the fabrics.  No math, people!
The pennants on this baby quilt were cut with a fancy rotary cutter with a scalloped blade.  You can put your own creative spin on it with buttons and flowers.
"Delightful Flags" all ready for you to make!  Make sure you check the inside label of your kit - you may need to buy a back and a binding while you're still in the store.
